This Month: Warhol Meets LA!

Happy February, Los Angeles! Celebrate the grand opening of Revolver Gallery’s new location with our critically-acclaimed show, Warhol Revisited. Revisited debuted in Toronto in 2015, transforming a retail space into a one-of-a-kind pop-up gallery filled with wall-to-wall Warhol. The exhibition, greatly expanded, opens its Los Angeles doors on February 14th.

Warhol Meets LA
Revolver Gallery, Santa Monica

Warhol’s image is heavily associated with New York; he loved the city and it highly informed his aesthetic. The LA-NY rivalry is so deeply ingrained that it’s actually a bit shocking to discover that Warhol also loved LA. Shocking, at least, until you hear his reasoning – “I love Los Angeles, and I love Hollywood. They’re beautiful. Everybody’s plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic.” A stereotype to be sure, but LA is definitely Warhol paradise. Mile-high ads everywhere, instant celebrities walking the streets, sometimes combinations of the two – Warhol would certainly have loved Angelyne. What better place could there be for Warhol Revisited?

The exhibition itself will feature the largest collection of gallery-owned Warhol works – over 200 – along with themed installations, lectures, and private tours. The exhibition opens on Valentine’s day, so bring your sweetheart – or, if you’re like Andy, ten or twenty of your closest, most fabulous friends – and make a reservation at warholrevisited.com.
