Kennedy for President Committee (USA)

Andy Warhol’s Edward Kennedy was a print series commissioned in 1980 to gain funding for Kennedy’s democratic presidential campaign. Some of Warhol’s early work, such as Flash and his Jackie series, focused on the Kennedy family and their image within American culture. Though his portraits of Edward “Ted” Kennedy were commissioned, the works align with Warhol’s other depictions of the Kennedy family and fit into the political realm of his catalog. The Edward Kennedy 241 print was originally a very small edition, intended only for the donors of Kennedy’s campaign.
