Warhol Superstar Jane Holzer was born on October 23, 1940. Holzer started modeling as a teenager in England and Paris and dropped out of college early to become a model full time. She was given the nickname Baby Jane Holzer and is considered to be one of the first Warhol superstars.
Holzer was introduced to Warhol by Vogue editor Diana Vreeland in 1964. She appeared in some of Warhol’s earliest films Kiss, Batman Dracula, and Camp. The activity and people that started to frequent The Factory, caused Holzer to start distancing herself from The Factory. Warhol’s assassination attempt became one of the final factors to her departure. After her time at The Factory, Holzner became a well-known art collector. Holzner lives in a six-story townhouse that houses a large art collection of Warhol and other prominent artists of the time.
Holzner was the subject of an art exhibition dedicated to her and Warhol called To Jane, Love Andy, at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach in 2014. The exhibition included some of her more famous outfits and Warhol films that she appeared in. She has produced films such as Boogie Woogie and Spring Breakers.
