Have you ever asked yourself what led to the rise of Pop Art? What motivated artists like Warhol, Lichtenstein, Rosenquist, and Johns to all begin working in this revolutionary style?

Warhol was asked in an interview how he, Rosenquist, and Lichtenstein all began working in a similar fashion, yet independently of each other. He responded, “Well I just think we read a lot of comic books, and it just happened to come out then. Comic books (show) things the way they really are today.” With the wave of classic superheros, pop artists were given a new catalyst that inspired many of their works.
