The 1983 Brooklyn Bridge Centennial Commission, Inc.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge, The 1983 Brooklyn Bridge Centennial Commission commissioned and published Warhol’s Brooklyn Bridge. The piece served as the official artwork for the event, but also stands as a prime example of his 1980’s work with color blocking techniques and an emphasis on geometric design. Warhol’s depiction of the bridge is surreal and dreamy, re-imagining the spectacular feat of modern engineering in a new and interesting way.
