In 1980, Andy Warhol created the series Ten Portraits of Jews of the 20th Century, which included former Israel prime minister Golda Meir. The portrait of Meir was given to the American Friends of the Israel Museum (AFIM) Beaux Arts Ball in New York and was commissioned by art dealer Ronald Feldman. This series highlights prominent Jewish social figures throughout the decade including Franz Kafka, Gertrude Stein, George Gershwin and more.
